How to Add a New Author to WordPress blog from Dashboard
When you add new people to your WordPress website, they can access the content easily because they are part of a group called a “role”. A user can only access certain areas of your website if he has certain permissions.
The most common permissions a user has are read, write, edit, delete, and publish. Each of those permissions is assigned to a certain role on your website.
First, visit WordPress Dashboard click on Users >> Add New. Next, you have to fill in new user details here.

As a contributor, you have the ability to write and edit your own posts. You can also view other contributors’ posts and make suggestions, but you don’t have the ability to publish posts.
As a contributor, you won’t have access to the full range of features, such as plugins, themes, settings, and tools. This is the most basic level of access, and it’s a great place to get your feet wet.
Authors have complete control over their posts, including the ability to add, modify, and publish them. They can also upload files.
They don’t have access to features like plugins, themes, settings, or tools, and they can’t modify or publish other people’s posts.
You might wish to install a plugin to limit authors to only writing in certain categories.
You may also allow authors to make changes to their previously published articles. To extend the Author user role, you’ll need to use a plugin once more.
An administrator has complete control over your WordPress site.
