Promote a website

10 Ways How to Promote a Website or Blog

Want to promote a website? Well, who doesn’t? The problem is, it’s hard to grow and market your business unless you have a large marketing budget, right? But what if I told you that you could grow your business without spending a fortune on advertising?

You don’t need money to market your business. Today I am going to teach you how you can market your website when you do not have money to spend on advertising.

How to Promote a Website on Social Media or other Platform

1. Email marketing

So you’ve got your site set up perfectly, but you’re not sure how to drive traffic to your website

If you’re doing anything online, you’ll need an email. No matter the size of your business or website, being able to email your audience is important.

Seriously, half the world’s population uses email. With so many people accessible through their inboxes, email is one of the best ways to drive traffic to a website because your email list is already interested in your site.

Traffic is almost guaranteed because you are speaking directly to your list and emails drive targeted traffic to the pages you select.

Increase Site Traffic with Email Marketing

Email marketing is a fairly cheap yet effective way to reach your audience. In addition to following our email marketing best practices, here are some essential steps to take to increase traffic with email marketing.

  • Build a customer list as fast as possible
  • Choose the right email marketing software
  • Keep your email on point
  • Write catchy subject lines
  • Add social sharing buttons to your email
  • Add a CTA or Call to Action
  • Don’t send too many emails
  • Make sure your email template works on mobile
  • Don’t get marked as spam
Use Content Upgraded to Get More Subscribers

Content upgrades or lead magnets are resources you provide in exchange for an email address. If you get the right upgrade, your audience will gladly sign up to your email list to receive free content.

However, you have to understand your audience and know what they want. Perfect Key does a good job of this.

Some content upgrade examples you can use are:

  • Checklist
  • Cheat Sheet
  • Quick-Start Guide
  • E Books
  • Templates
  • Free courses
Create an Email Welcome Chain

A welcome email chain is a sequence of emails that are automatically sent to your customers when they first join your list.

Just remember, this is your chance to make a good first impression. This can go a long way in increasing your website traffic as well as increasing your customers.

Drift works well with this email that gets straight to the point and directs new customers to popular content.

Add a way to capture email to your site

To start leveraging the power of email for traffic, you need a way to collect email addresses through your website.

You can use a sidebar or content signup form like this.

Email newsletter popup

Another way might be to add a demo version of your products or tools and ask for an email address to access it.

2. Promote Your Content When You Have No Followers

Everyone talks about content marketing, how wonderful it is, but why is it that every time you write a blog post, no one reads it?

Well, today I am going to teach you how to promote your content when you have no followers.

If you have thousands of Facebook fans and Twitter followers, it’s easy. But if you don’t, it’s still easy, and I’m going to show you what I would have done when I was starting out.

When you are writing a blog post, you have to link to relevant sources. Even if it’s a competitor, that’s fine. Don’t worry about it.

If anyone has other wonderful content that would benefit your readers, link to them. It’s really that simple because by doing this you’re putting them first. It shows trust. As you build more trust, people will love you and they will keep coming back.

How to Link With Other’s

Let’s say I’m writing a detailed article on marketing and have some statistics on how many people are clicking on paid ads, or how much revenue Google is making, or how many more people are coming from mobile to Google Search vs desktop these days.

In general, every time I have a 2,000-word blog post, I link to at least 10 to 20 sources. Now you don’t want them to appear there, you don’t want to link just for the sake of it, link only if it benefits other people.

Every time you link because it’s benefiting our readers, they’ll love you, because they’re learning more.

Furthermore, the people you are linking to will also love you because you are giving them free traffic.

Let’s say I link to Brian from one of my blog posts. I’ll email Brian saying,

“Hey Brian, I love your work so much that I linked to you in my latest blog post too. Feel free to check it out. Cheers, Rishabh. PS If you share this post, it’s just mine Will not be my day, it will make my year.”

When you do, a lot of people will feel flattered because you linked to them, and at the same time, they’re amazing content, so why wouldn’t you link to them?

They will start sharing it on Twitter, they will start sharing it on LinkedIn, Facebook, etc. and this will help you to get more traffic. That’s how I promote a website when I’m starting out.

3. Push video, text and audio to Social Media

The beautiful thing about the web is social media is free. There is no cost to live there.

The other beautiful thing about the web is that you can create content in any form. It can do video, it can be text, it can be audio, like a podcast. Creating this type of text format or content and then pushing it out on social media is a great way to get more traffic.

If you’re trying to market your website and don’t have any money to spend on advertising, here’s what you want to do.

4. Quora

Go to Quora and type in all the questions that people in your area might have. You will start seeing a lot of questions and popular questions that are getting a lot of votes.

Go into those questions, answer them. By helping people you will see that more people will see who you are, they will come back to your website, and then they will make a purchase. It really is that simple.

This is a great way to leverage their traffic to generate traffic back to my website and sales. The best part is that I don’t need to spend any money on this.

5. Post content on social media

The second thing you should do is post your content on social media. You write a blog post. Post it on Twitter. You write another blog post. Again, post it on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn. The possibilities are endless.

Share your content consistently everywhere. Do you know what I do? I wrote a blog post on my website once. Then I post the same content on LinkedIn.

After adding a few paragraphs on LinkedIn I say, “Hey, click to continue reading the rest.” This prompts them to return to my website to read the rest of the article.

I even put a snippet on Twitter, as it only allows 140 characters, which keeps people coming back to my site. So sharing your content on social media is another great way to get traffic. It’s that easy.

Answer people who are asking questions on Quora. Go to Twitter. Look for people who are asking about stuff in your area.

So if someone is asking about marketing-related stuff, I’ll go to Twitter and reply to them in just 140 characters.

Heck, I might even link to their website if I have stuff that answers their question as well. This is a great way to get more traffic.

You know that if you don’t have a popular Twitter profile, or don’t want to use Quora, just Google for forums within your location.

So if you are in the field of marketing, just google marketing forum, F-O-R-U-M. You will see a list of forums. Go to them Answer the questions you can answer.

In the footer of each of your forum responses or in the signature link on your website. This will bring more visitors back to your site. More traffic means more sales.

6. Social Media Advertising

We put a small budget behind most of our manufactured materials.

The reason we do this is that, like many businesses, our organic posting is only exposed to a small portion of our audience, but by creating ads, we can get your content to a much larger and more targeted audience.

We found that a small budget is really all it takes for each piece to generate your shares and likes and this, in turn, will start generating traffic and it may even generate you some backlinks.

7. Write on Industry Forum

We write brief introductions for many different industry news sites. As we are in the marketing industry, sites we do this for include Inbound.org, Growth Hackers, and even some LinkedIn groups.

A quick Google search or group search on social media channels or something similar in your industry brings up opportunities. I personally think this is a great way to get our interesting content to a large and highly targeted audience.

The thing is, most of the people who go to these groups are going there to read and learn and engage with the content, so posting in these places allows you to take advantage of the niche audience you target.

It’s also a great way to start some conversations and make some new connections.

8. Post on News Sites

We post articles on news sites like Flipboard and zest.is, which are high-traffic news sites that filter content based on topics that people are interested in reading, and that means posting content on our website. The content gets a really good opportunity to come across one. Large target audience.

The Flip Board can be viewed on the web and also has a mobile app for iOS and Android. Here I suggest checking out their really simple Chrome extension called Flip It which lets you post your content to their database with just a few clicks.

Zest.is is also a good Chrome extension, so I suggest you check both out, of course, you can’t forget.

9. Submit Your Articles on Social Bookmarking Sites

Social bookmarking is a method by which you can submit your web page links to these social bookmarking sites. The search engine notes that it has quality backlinks. You can share images, articles, pages, and posts here.

10. Syndication

There are a ton of industry news websites out there that aggregate and syndicate content from across the web. For example, for our intelligent brand, we syndicate our blog at Business2Community.com.

This means that when we post a new blog article business the community also automatically publishes it on their sites. This is the positive aspect of generating less traffic through the links in the article and also gives us a wider reach and some brand awareness.

And I know what you might be thinking isn’t duplicate content?

Not really – Business2Community has a statement at the end of each article stating that it was originally published on our blog with a link to our site, this indicates to search engines that we are original to the content. The source is there and has been republished with permission.

To find opportunities like this in your industry, you can search Google for phrases like “this article originally appeared on this site” or “contribute to this site,” along with just the name of your industry. Do some research like marketing or healthcare and see what you can find.

11. Google Question Hub

Google provides you with a free question hub platform you can answer the question related to your blog post.

Go to Google question hub and sign in with your email.

Then after login, you need to add your site URL it will redirect to google search console select your site from the console, and add.

After adding your site you can see this type of dashboard.

Google question Hub

Here you need to search Keyword and you will more questions ask by people related that keywords.

If you have a written blog post related to that question then you can paste your post URL there and you can also track your performance of that URL.

Conclusion :

The result of these six simple actions is that we begin to generate traction for every article we create.

We also generate likes, share backlinks, and comments and this helps us drive traffic back to our site and kick-start conversations for every new content.

So tell me how you promote a website. What have you heard and what can you add to this list? Please comment below. I would love to have more conversations about it and as always if you want to keep in touch.
